Happy New Year and welcome to our monthly newsletter! As we embark on an ambitious agenda for Nivi in 2018 and beyond, I want to take the opportunity to talk briefly about Nivi’s past, where we are today, and where we are going.
Nivi sits at the intersection of global health, technology, and information. Our vision is to become the most trusted source of information for women’s health on the planet. We believe that we can get there through a combination of smart software, simple interactions centered around users' needs, and world class customer service.
In 2017 we got off to a good start! Since launching our digital screening and referral service we have had over 10,000 callers and given over 3,000 referrals to clinics, closed a $1.4M investment from Merck for Mothers (MSD for Mothers, outside the US and Canada), spoken at the annual general meeting of the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition, and in September introduced Nivi to the broader global health and family planning ecosystem at UNGA week in New York as part of Every Women Every Child’s Innovation Showcase.
How Nivi Works
How did we get here? Nivi today is the sum total of our team’s collective experiences. Nivi’s screening and referral product is the result of my two co-founders research in public health and family planning markets in Kenya. Our data driven, consumer-focused model comes from our combined observations about how healthcare works in these markets. It is the result of years, months, and hours of constant iteration, and most of all Nivi today is the result of our users - they have defined who we are as a brand and have been the inspiration for our core product features.
Where do we go from here? We view Nivi truly as a global platform ready for any market and any context where women need access to trusted sources of health information. While we work hard to scale Nivi throughout Kenya, we also have one eye towards the future, and in 2018 we will be bringing Nivi to new markets and expanding the suite of services that we offer women through our new AskNivi platform.
As we move forward, we'll be sharing more about the Nivi ecosystem, including how we see a consumer centered approach improving contraceptive services and women’s health; how data is critical in this ecosystem; and how together, Nivi and our partners in the public and private sectors can complement efforts to advance public health research. Most importantly, we’ll highlight stories from our users - the people for whom this platform is built. At the end of the day, Nivi is driven by passionate people, each with their own perspective, who want to see a fundamental transformation in the way women access family planning and women’s health services. So as Nivi says in her introduction - “Let’s get started!”
